Leadership Tussle Rocks Zamfara NURTW, National Body Intervens

The leadership of Zamfara State Chapter of National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has entered in to crisis, following the success of Peoples Democratic Party PDP flag bearer Dr, Dauda Lawal Dare.

Investigation conducted by this medium showed that, immidiately when INEC announced that Dr, Dauda Lawal Dare emerged victorious at the just concluded governorship elections, some members of the union tried to overthrow the elected NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Hamisu Habibu Kasuwar Daji, without following the constitutional formalities of the Union.

With this ugly development, Kasuwar Daji voluntarily wrote a resignation letter despite the fact that his tenure has not elapsed, but just to bring sanity in their union.

But at the time goes on, Alhaji Hamisu Habibu Kasuwar Daji, withdrew his resignation letter he issued to the managemnet of the union on 29th of March this year.

 In a letter he tendered to the Union's management, informing them that he has withrawn the earlier letter of resignation, and he would continued as a Chairman till his tenure elapse.

The withrawal of his resignation letter was as a result of the advice given to him by some critical stakeholders of NURTW, and his union loyalists.

According to Alhaji Hamisu Kasuwar Daji, the withdrawal of his resignation became imperative, so as to follow the constitution governing their union, and the constitution gave him the mandate to continue as a substantive Zamfara NURTW Chairman from 23/10/2019, when he was elected up to 23/10/2023, where his tenure will elapsed.

He however called on all aggrieved members, or any member that needs any position to wait till 23/10/2023, as stipulated by the constitution.

 The tension continues to mount after the withrawal of his resignation, but today the national body of NURTW has visited the state with a view to finding lasting solution to the matter, and the delagation held a reconciliation meeting with both the two side of the union in the state.

In an interview with one of the delegation sent to the state by national body, Alhaji Suleman Abdulkadeer informed this medium that, they held a crucial meeting with the warring groups and heard  grievances from each side.

 According to him, they are satisfied with the sense of maturity the groups showed to them during the meeting, and assured that what ever they discussed would communicated to their national leaders.

He stressed that, even Sokoto branch of the union faced the same leadership problem, but has not deepen like that of Zamfara state branch.

Recall that the embattled Kasuwar Daji forcefully unseated the then State chairman, Hon.  Shehu Kuka Mai Rahu when Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle was declared the Governor in 2019 because he belongs to Matawalle's camp.

When the INEC declared Dauda Lawal Dare a winner, the PDP supporters in the State want to fraustate him out of the system because a new government have emerged in the State.
