By Gambo Abubakar Kaduna

The Chairman palm oil sellers association of Nigeria, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market Kaduna, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna has appealed to the Federal government to reduce the tax rate on palm oil  importation and the price of gas in order to make easier and  affordable.

Alhaji Yusuf  made the appeal in an interview with newsmen   in Kaduna, in reaction to the recent suspension and banning of palm oil importation into the country by federal government via the central bank of Nigeria(CBN).

According to the Chairman, dispite the suspension of palm oil ban would not reduce the hike in price of the commodity in Nigeria, because of the high cost of gas which led to the high cost of transportation  and the increase in custom  duty of palm oil importation.

"Government should consider  given support to the indigenous companies that are producing  the products locally through their association which enhanced the the quality and the quantity of product "

He however emphasized that the quality of palm oil produce locally is more qualitative than the one imported abroad, its reduced the commodity shortage and monopoly in market.

Also interviewed by media men, the vice chairman of the association, Yusuf Haruna, said the lingering collapse of Nigerian Naira value to dollar, would woefully affect the importation of palm oil product for not being affordable in price as government expected.

He called on the federal government to support the suya beans farmers and the companies that are producing the suya beans for quality production and increase the quantity of oil in Nigeria.
