Recruitment, retaining excellent teachers, solution to Nigerian education;- Dr, Silas.

A Kaduna base lecturer, Dr John Silas, has advocated for the recruitment and retaining excellent teachers as critical factor for the success of future generation, as well as comprehensive policies needed to addressed the emerging teachers shortage, for ensuring every child is taught by a competent and committed teacher.
Dr Silas made this statements during a lecture presentation, titled "The Teachers we need for the Education we want" at the commemoration of 2023 world teacher's day, organised by academic staff union of secondary schools (ASUSS), Kaduna state chapter, in Kaduna.
Dr Silas,described a teacher as an expert who is capable of imparting knowledge that will helpl learners to build,identify and to acquire skills and values that enhance development."
He however stressed the reasons for teachers leaving the profession, is inadequate preparation, lack of support for new teachers, dissatisfaction with compensation, better career opportunities and personal reasons.
"some of the ways resolving teachers shortage is by boosting the teachers pay,partner with the teachers prep programs, build bottom up support, tap into educator's passion and the treatment of students wellbeing.
In his addressed, Mr Chief Gandu Sunday (Danmasanin Kagoro), a lecturer Kaduna state college of education Gidan Waya, encouraged teachers to improve their quality by refreshing and training at all times,because quality students derived from the quality teachers.
He also advised teachers not be discourage despite the challenges; parental controversy, schools management, limitations of the specialized area,environmental hazard and government policies.
Also speaking at occasion the Kaduna state commissioner of education, professor Mohammed Sani Bello,represented by the deputy director public schools, Alhaji Labaran Hassan, urged all the teachers union to make the spirit of togetherness, especially the ASUU and other relevant bodies for the success in lifting the state best amongst the other states in Nigeria.
He however stressed that teaching is a continue process, and education is the fundamental aspect of the development of any country, if youth of a society is educated, a future is born.
Earlier in his addressed the state union chairman comrade Ishaya B Dauda, appealed to the state government for teachers welfare, security, construction and renovation of schools, recruitment and posting of teachers and approval of 65/60 years harmonised retirement age.
"on behalf of the leadership and the entire members of ASUSS congratulated the state governor Senator Uba Sani and his team for the victory recorded at the election tribunal recently, the Union is solidi behind this government for ensuring better service delivery to the citizens.
