World Food Day 2023:- Zamfara First Lady Charges Women To Intensity Farming In Their Domain

Women in Zamfara state have been call  to intensify farming activities in their domain, so as to become self reliant.

The Wife of  zamfara state Governor, Hajia Huriyya Dauda Lawal made the call today while celebrating  "World Food Day, 2023" in Gusau, with the theme ( Water is life, Water is Food).

She said, Zamfara state recognize the critical role water plays in ensuring food in the state, adequate water resources are crucial for Agriculture and food production

According to the First Lady, the day is also looking at the plight of 700 million people that go to bed daily with empty stomach, adding that most worrisome is the growing number of children that are malnourished as a result of lack of food.

Hajiya Huriya also said that the causes of the challenges were attributed to conflict, insecurity and climate change that displaced rural communities. 

"The present administration under my husband, is committed to providing communities especially our rural areas with access to clean water. First Lady maintained.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau,  by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication office of the first lady of Zamfara state Zara'u Musa said, the wife of the Governor Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has taken part in  activities to mark the "World Food Day"

According to the statement, the First Lady went round Pavillions of Fourteen Local Government Areas and purchased Agricultural commodities produced by the women farmers as a morale booster and called aon them to intensity farming within their domain despite security challenges as government is mapping out modalities to bring an end to challenges bedeviling the state. 

She however bought commodities produced by the Women Farmersv Association at different prices ranging from from N200,000 to N250,000,. among others.
