The Permanent  Commissioner, Zamfara state Hajji Commission, and muryar PDP Alhaji Buhari Maijega has said that, Governor Dauda Lawal has won the case of nine billion dollars against Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

Muryar PDP made the disclosure today while reacting to a  news trending on social media that former minister Alison Madueke is saying that the said money is still with Governor Dauda Lawal.

Mai Jega alledged that the main opposition parties in the state are behind the ugly posting only to tarnish the image of the seasoned governor.

He said for those that are not aware of the case, he will put the record straight, "The supreme court judgment set aside and rescinded the Order of Final Forfeiture of N9,080,000,000.00 against Dr. Dauda Lawal, directing the immediate return of the said sum.

According to him, the verdict brought a definitive end to the malicious persecution orchestrated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Dr. Dauda Lawal.

The unjust ordeal commenced in May 2016 when the EFCC levied unfounded allegations of money laundering and obtaining monies suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity against Dr. Lawal.

It is noteworthy that the Federal High Court, Lagos Division, had previously delivered a final judgment on October 7, 2020, discharging and acquitting Dr. Dauda Lawal of all charges related to money laundering, obtaining funds suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities, and other unsubstantiated charges brought against him by the EFCC in Charge No FHC/L/419C/2018, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA V. DAUDA LAWAL.

The court found false the allegation that Dr. Dauda Lawal assisted Diezani Alison-Madueke in purchasing a hotel,

" But in Zamfara state, there was former governor who was alledged to have siphoned over seventy billion naira, why he refused to take EFCC to court and claim deformation of character, or to come out and tell the public that the commission is telling liars against him. Mai Jega concluded.
