Gov, Uba Sani Wins 2024 Beacon Of Peace and Unity

 The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for peace (IDFP) in collaboration with King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz International Centre KACIID for Inter religious and Intercultural Dialogue Centreline have awarded the Kaduna state governor malam Uba Sani as the 2024 "BEACON Of Peace and Unity."

 For his contributions towards the promotion of inter religious tolerance and harmony in the the state.

 The award which presented at the 6th Annual Interfaith Peace Conference, theme; "Tackling Poverty And Security In Nigeria: Our Collective responsibility, recently held at Hotel Seventeen, in Kaduna.

 Speaking after receiving the award, the Kaduna state governor Malam Uba Sani said, Poverty and Insecurity are the biggest  challenges facing the country.

   "An increased in poverty level is the major source of worry for political leaders. Addressing the issue of poverty is critical to restoring the people's faith in our democracy."

 "We struggles to address developmental challenges, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and security."  

 According to the governor, we can reset the security architecture in the way that proactive instead of reactive approach will be adopted in tackling insecurity in Nigeria.

  He also stressed that their is need to balance tactical thinking with strategic thinking. The right balance  make the security agencies to be more effective in the fight against terrorists, insurgents, separatists, kidnappers and other criminal element.

  "There is also need for effective intelligence gathering and surveillance so that law enforcement agents, and modernise the security agencies with training, intelligence sharing, advanced technology, logistics, motivation and change of orientation."

  The governor further explained that, there is need for the six geopolitical zones to develop Common Strategies and Operational Plans to tackle insecurity. The zones must establish Command and Control Centres to coordinate joint efforts against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in their regions. 

  "We must fight corruption and initiate a comprehensive campaign for ethical reorientation in Nigeria. Corruption has undermined development in the country."

  "An effective non -kinetic approach must developed and fully implemented to win the support of the citizens and fully involved in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality in Nigeria.

 The governor however, advised all respective states, not only hold regular meetings with elders, religious leaders, representatives of youth and women groups, but establish STATE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEES ON INSECURITY. 

 Earlier in his welcomed address, the Co Chair,of IDFP, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, said " I'm optimistic that the conference will leave us energetic with fresh ideas and commitment to address the challenges facing the nation.

"let us collaborate to ensure that no Nigerian needlessly suffers from hunger,violence, or persecution based on their religion, belief, culture or status."

  He also commended the Kaduna state governor Uba Sani, for the success secure since assuming to office, it's unwavering advocate for change, and the state stand as shining example of rapid transformation into fastest-growing peaceful state that embraces and respects all Faith, tradition, ethnicity and people.
