FUG Commences Programs For 3rd And 4th Combined Convocation Ceremony

As part of its activities to hold 3rd and 4th Combined Convocation ceremonies, the Federal University Gusau has today held a Press Conference, where a lot of things with regard to the success and challenges recorded by the present Vice Chancellor Professor Mu'azu Abubakar Gusau have been highlighted
So also said yesterday the University commenced inter faculty football match competition and by wednesday, there will be the final for two faculties out of which the winner will be decided.
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Professor Mu'azu Abubakar Gusau made this known at a Press conference held at the University hall Gusau, adding that the convocation lecturer at the free convocation lecture is the Executive Governor of Katsina state, Malan Dikko Radda PhD..
According to him, Professor (Emeritus) Abubakar Sani Sambo,OON, former Director General, Energy Commission Of Nigeria, Former Director General Energy Commission Of Nigeria (ECN), is the Chairman of the occasion,
Professor Gusau added that, immediately after the pre-convocation lecture, there will be commissioning of some modest legacy projects, they are able to execute under his leadership.
"Under my stewardship as the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of this University, we've recorded modest achievements some of which are:-
"On staff training and development, our efforts led to the lifting of the earlier suspension of the fund's embargo on the University. It's on record that about 95% of the application for research funding by the staff of the University were approved and supported by the Tetfund.
" On the accreditation of Academic Programmes, all the remaining 15 Academic Programmes bearing interim accreditation were granted full accreditation by the National University Commission (NUC), among others.
The Vice Chancellor also stated that achievements like the one he recorded could not have been achieved without some challenges, as according to him the challenges the institution is facing is not unique to them alone but other Federal Institutions in Nigeria and North West in particular.
He however said that, there are challenges of funding and insecurity bedevilling them, the need for the institutions are enormous and the funding from the federal government is inadequate .
Gusau therefore called on all well-to-do individuals, to invest heavily on education thereby complementing the efforts of the Federal Government
