KDSG URGED TO MEDIATE ON GUBUCHI FARMLAND TUSSLE

 A passionate appeal has been made to the Kaduna state governor Senator Uba Sani, to prevail on the planned confiscation of some farm lands from the rightful owners, by a company in Gubuchi area of Makarfi local government.

 The leader of the farmers who are facing the treat of their farmlands confiscation by the company whose mission is to embark on Sugarcane Cultivation, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Gibuchi made the plea in Kaduna while speaking with news men .

 According to him " they inherited the farm from their parents and grandparents who are the original owners of the land and have been cultivating for over forty years.

 He said to their surprise some government officials during the last administration came and directed them to vacate the farm for onward submission to a private company for Sugarcane farming.

 Mallam Idris explained that "since the time their parents occupied the land up to this time they have been promptly paying taxes to government.

 The leader of the Gubuchi farmers noted that if confiscated from the farmers the land owners would be exposed to untold hardship, hence the for governor Uba Sani to intervene on the matter to forestall peace in the area.

On whether there was written document by the government instruction the farmers to quit the farmlands, Mallam Idris Gubachi said there was nothing like that.

Mallam Idris Abdullahi Gubuchi who is also the secretary farmers association Gubuchi and Makarfi. pointed out that they have filed a case in court, and the court had issued order, directing a company in question to stop any attempt or action aimed at confiscating the Gubuchi farmlands.

 Also speaking, the spokesman of the human rights group" freedom of humanity", Ismail Ibrahim, described the planned confiscation of land by the company as unfortunate and targeted at causing grievances and injuries to the Gubuchi farmers and the original owners of the farmland.

 The activist decided to wade into the matter in view of the need to protect the rights of Gubuchi farmers.

  The human rights activist, explained further that, "threatened that if the company in question went ahead and confiscate the farmland from the farmers, they would stand by them and file a case in court to seek for redress to ensure that their rights have not been trampled upon.

  He however urged the farmers of the community to remain calm and patients despite the farming season is approaching, and avoid any acts of violence that could disrupt public peace, as a result of the lingering issue, await the Kaduna state government response on the issue.
