GAIN Trains 69 Kaduna State Extension Workers On Nutrition, Value Addition For Nutrients

The Kaduna state government in partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition have trained Sixty Nine agricultural extension workers of Kaduna state Agricultural Development Agency, on Improving the Nutrition and Value Addition for Nutrient - Enriched Staples in the state.

The one day training of trainers convened three representatives from each of the twenty three local government areas of the state, which recently held at Hotel Seventeen in Kaduna.

 The senior project manager, supply chains for commercialisation, Mr Godwin Enu Ehiabhi, said "we were in Kaduna in the last 5yrs, that is  2019 to implement different project that promote the consumption of save and nutrition food in Nigeria.

 " Aims of this training is to support the government with technical assistance in training the agricultural extention workers on how to process and save the nutrition food using vitamin A maize and Vitamin A cassava Orange potatoe."

The project manager, however explained that, the overall goals of the particular training is to ensure that the extension agents acquire  the knowledge on processing and value addition of products formalisation and reformalisation.

  He further noted that, the community would benefited from the programme, because, the extension agents from various 23 local government areas, are  expected  to castigate  what they have learned down to the communities.

  One of the participants, Aisha Gidado, an extension worker from Kauri local government, said "We learned more on nutrition food and with different kind of things that would promote youth and old people in the farming system in Nigeria must especially in Kaduna state. 

 "I'm highly delighted and very satisfied with the training, I urged my  fellow participants to adopt  what they have learned from the project.

 Other participant, Hauwau Gambo from KADA, thanked God that gave them opportunity to attend the training, saying they have benefited  a lot especially female in knowing the overall techniques on developing the farming activities.

 According to her,' it is very interested for the trainees to know how to farm vegetables like; pawpaw  tomatoes, cassava  and potato among others in a very limited place in their respective homes, and got a high quantity of products."
