NPHCA, eHEALTH AFRICA INTRODUCES DIGITAL MICROPLAN ON POLIO IN NIGERIA

The national primary health care agency in collaboration with Non governmental organization ehealth Africa have organised a workshop on microplan digitization for effective polio immunization and other disease in Nigeria.
While speaking with newsmen at the workshop recently in Kaduna, the programme manager ehealth Africa, Abubakar Shehu, said, the level of human resources in health sector a very scarce and the service provided are very low in Nigeria.
"For immunization to achieve the desire objective coverage it needs to reach at least Eighty percent to the target population, " we decided to develop such application using technology that derived to generate microplan."
Dr Abubakar Shehu however noted that, the Planfeld Pilot Workshop is designed the digitization microplan use to develop the plan in order to know the total number of citizens targeting, the number of Childten in that settlement and the quantity of vaccines needed for these activities.
"Previously while conducting microplan manuall for polio immunization and other disease it would took at least Four days, with this technology development, of microplan digitization, it can only spend less then Thirty minutes to upload the application."
He also explained that, the Kaduna, Katsina,Kebbi,Sokoto and Zamfara are the states that are selected for the programme
One of the representative of partners, Mr Victor Obagunlu Adeleke, the Kaduna state Team Leader Polio Outbreak Project from SOLINA organisation, said "as partner in this field offered support for ensuring the personnel at the field were property trained to have the capacity so that they can undetermined the whole microplan digitization process.
He further explained that, the digitization micro plain process offered a lot of benefits that are going to be reintroduction in time and energy spend in developing microplan, its also not capital intensive its cheaper and most importantly can be real time.
Microplan process currently stated from the settlement down to the ward, to local government areas and to state respectively, it's however take time to aggregate data at this levels.
Also speaking at the workshop, the Incident Manager Polio Emergency Operations center EOC, Kaduna state primary care development agency, Dr Abdullahi Musa Garba, said " this is the national programmes aims to digitizatise the process at the computer era that anything has to do with digitization process.
For accuracy and improvement in terms of Polio immunization and other related diseases, its also to minimum errors compared to manual process conducted in previous activities.
"Urrrently the conventional planning or the system doing for microplan is really not an easy process."
