British American Tobacco Empowers 200 Women On Poultry Farming In Zamfara

The British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation in collaboration with federal ministry of agriculture and food security and Zamfara state ministry of agriculture and natural resources has empowered 200 women with 5-Weeks Old Noilers to improve poultry farming scheme .
In his remarks at the formal launching of distribution of the Noilers in Gusau Friday, the general manager of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation, Oludare Odusanya said, the 200 women were carefully selected by the foundation from all the 14 local government areas to benefit from the scheme.
According to him, each woman will receive 20 Noiler birds, a bag of specially formulated feed and essential multivitamin to support sustainable poultry farming.
“We are in Zamfara to implement a transformative project designed to empower women and enhance rural livelihoods in our beloved state and we firmly believe that by investing in our community-especially in the capable hands of resilient and enterprising women-we are planting the seeds for a brighter and more prosperous future for all In Zamfara State”. He said.
“This initiative is not just about providing resources, it’s about fostering development, resilience, and economic empowerment within our communities”. He added
According to him, the poultry farming has emerged as a transformative enterprise, providing not only a sustainable source of income but also advancing food security and strengthening community cohesion.
He further stated that the aim of the foundation is to empower the women of Zamfara State, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to establish successful businesses that will contribute to the broader prosperity of Zamfara community.
“Our dedication goes beyond this initial distribution and we will provide continuous support, awareness programs, and resources to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of this project”. He said.
He pointed out that the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation since its inception in 2002 has supported the Federal and State Governments in agricultural development programmes and has invested over 4 billion Naira in supporting rural small holder farmers.
“So far, we have reached over 1.3 million beneficiaries, and we expect to double that in the next 10 years through increased support to small holder farmers across the 36 states and the FCT”. He further hinted.
Launching the program, the wife of Zamfara state governor Hajia Hurriyya Dauda Lawal commended the British American Tobacco Nigeria foundation for the support given to women in the state.
According to her, the innovative will go along way to enable those women who benefited from the poultry farming scheme to be self defenders.
She urged the benefiting women of the program on the need to utilize the Noilers given to them apparently for them to be self reliants.
Hajia Hurriyya Dauda stated that Zamfara state government under the leadership of her husband will continue partnering with all development partners to develop the state.
