World Food Day: Zamfara First Lady Calls On NAWIA To Redouble Efforts In The Farming Business

The Wife of Zamfara State Governor Hajjiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal has called on Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA) Zamfara State Chapter to put more commitment in their farming business to tackle food crisis and hunger facing the nation.

Hajiya Huriyya Dauda made the call on Wednesday during the  celebration of World Food Day  held in Gusau.

"I am ready to assists the farmers in the state especially women in order our state to continued to answer her name 'farming is our pride', adding that we are embarking on annual inter local government farm products carnivals.

According to her the current socioeconomic crisis can be reversed if farmers intensify efforts to produce more farm products, assuring that Governor Dauda lead administration would sustain his commitment of support to farmers.

 Speaking earlier, the chairman of the occasion Alhaji Garba  Ahmad Yandi  announced that, the present administration of governor Dauda Lawal has given much priority to farming in the state.

According to him, to ensure hitch free farming, the governor procured fertilizer to the farmers accross the fourteen local government areas of Zamfara state.

In her remarks, the NAWIA, the state  Coordinator, Hajiya Shema'u Nalado thank the First Lady for the concerned and supported render to the NAWIA Zamfara state chapter.

She further explained that, women were now determine to take up agriculture activities from men, considering how they were committed to the farming business of all kind.

She then thanked the members of the NAWIA for their contribution in feeding the nation.

The state coordinator NAWIA  ,Hajiya Shemau Muhammad Nalado ,said the Nigeria association of women in agriculture observed that insecurity restricted farmers from cultivating their farms, and that had courses shortages of food in the country.

She said the United Nation had mark  16th October of every year to reflect on food security world wide, and like any other part of the world Zamfara had joint world to celebrate.
