Zamfara Commissioner Of Health Charges Health Workers To Do More In Carrying Out State Aims Of Revitalising Health Sector

Participants at the Workshop on harmonization of Zamfara state health sector 2025 MDA level annual plan (AoP), have been charged to carryout the state government desired aims in revitalising it's health sector in line with SWAp approach.

The charge was given by Dr. Aisha M.Z Anka, Commissioner of Health, during a 4 Day workshop  final session in Sokoto.

"The health of Zamfara citizens is in your hands; therefore, you should do all possible to come up with activities that are practical and reasonable, " the Commissioner advised. 

The Commissioner, who was represented by Permanent Secretary Malan Basiru Surajo Gusau, thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for his continued support of the Ministry of Health and all health sectors in the state.

Dr. Aisha emphasised four key aspects of the AoP which include reviewing the implementation of the 2024 Health Sector AOP, including partner-supported activities; finalising the Health Sector Situation Analysis for the 2025 AOP; providing Cross Validation of Planned Activities across MDAs to reduce duplication and improve efficiency; and harmonising the Health Facilities and PHCB AOP. 

In a remark, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Aminu D. Umar, encouraged the participants to create a comprehensive annual operational plan to improve the state's health indices. 

He emphasised the importance of including all activities in the operational plan.

In their individual responses, WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, SIGHT SAVERS, MARIES STOPES, INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE, MEDICINE SAN FRONTIERS, UNFPA,  GHSC, LHSS, HSCL, ACASUS and SOLINA GROUP representatives vowed to continue assisting the state Ministry of Health with program implementation.
