AMLSN URGE FG TO IMPLEMENT LAW ESTABLISH DIRECTORATE OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS

The National Welfare Officer for the Association of Medical Laboratories Scientists in Nigeria, Comrade Lawal Taofeeq Babsalam, has appealed to the federal government to implement the recent court judgement that established the Directorate of medical laboratory science across the country.

 Comrade Taofeeq Babsalam made the call in in an interview with media men during the end of the year  Dinner and awards, organised by AMLSN Kaduna state ministry of Health Chapter, recently held at Asaa Pyramid Hotel in Kaduna.

 The National Welfare Secretary, however appealed to the governments for the possible increasing the number of work force within laboratories: medical laboratory scientists and medical laboratory technicians across the board inclusive of heath care centres for effective service delivery.

 He also noted that, the system of the profession is actually polluted by the involvement of un qualified and unlicensed inside the system, many of the laboratories managed and administered by fake medical laboratory scientists in the country.

"As I'm speaking to you now, in national level we have at least Eighteen Court judgement cases on medical laboratories, structural organisation is part of issues bothered the association."

 He further urge his fellow colleagues to remain committed and team work for ensuring prioritised the welfare of patients and clientsin their respective facilities in Kaduna state and Nigeria at large.

  Earlier in his address, the Chairman Kaduna state Association of medical laboratory scientists of Nigeria state ministry of health Chapter, Mr Jesse David, said "the essence of organising the gathering is to celebrate and interact one another after spending days in work facilities.

 "So as to have a little rest and enjoying ourselves, also to honour and appreciate those that retired and the immediate past esco."

 He however explained that the medical laboratory scientists is committed is supporting the people during the distribution of Malaria vaccinations, poliio vaccines and conducting a free HIV screening exercises.
