Dr. Nafisa Maradun Takes Reins as Zamfara Health Commissioner, Outlines Six-Point Agenda

The newly redeploy Commissioner of Health, Dr Nafisa Muhammed Maradun has outlined a six-point agenda to address the state's health challenges during her inaugural speech. 

Dr Nafisa Maradun, who assumed office amid a state of emergency declared in the Health sector by Governor Dauda Lawal, highlighted the need for strategic engagement with stakeholders, assessment of Health system gaps, and immediate action to improve service delivery. 

She also emphasized the importance of health awareness and community engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and building institutional capacity.

The commissioner pledged to strengthen the primary Healthcare system, prioritize training and capacity building for Healthcare workers, and address Health promotion and disease prevention. 

She also vowed to ensure equitable access to Healthcare services for all residents, regardless of their social status or geographic location.

Dr Maradun expressed gratitude to Governor Lawal and stakeholders for their trust and support, and she called and collaboration to achieve the state's health goals. 

She also announced the establishment of a Central Coordination and Delivery Unit (CCDU) to oversee program implementation and monitoring.
