NSME Organises A Two Day National Workshop On Relevance Of Lithium, Other Earth Elements In Nigeria

The Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers (NSME) Kaduna state Chapter have organised a two days annual national workshop on relevance of Lithium and others Earth elements in Nigeria.
The third edition of the annual workshop tittled "Relevance of Lithium and other Rare Earth Elements in Nigeria's Quest for Sustainable Green Energy Revolution, held at Hotel Seventeen in Kaduna.
In his address, the National president NSME, Dr Umar Barka Hassan, calls on the formalisation between states and local governments in controlling rampant illegal mining in Nigeria.
According to the National President, " formalisation is in the sense that, the states and local governments came together with their aids and form a cooperative society for those did not have sources in mining profession.
"And ensure that those groups handed over to the mining authority and apply for mineral tittle and secure license, this will encourage the payments of taxes and provide job opportunity.
He however advised the governments to ensuring that timely process and licences should be given for those applied of tittles and licences. Also advised government to give attention towards solid mineral exploration.
He further noted that, " the aims of providing the needed forum for deliberating on Lithium Ore and solid minerals, as essential materials that Nigeria must pay attention to, if its aspiration for sustainable green energy generation and utilisation is to be achieved.
In his keynote address, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jupiter Project in Nigeria, Dr Stephen L Davies, said "the Nigerian government need to make an advance charges in mining sector,there is much gap compared to Australia and other European counties.
" It's much needed to enhanced the earth elements value so as more competitive for a every input especially Lithium ore."
Earlier in his welcome address the Kaduna State Chapter Chairman Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers, Dr Muhammad Sani Husaini, commended the association president, and the Jupiter project manager in Nigeria, for attending this important gathering.
"The topic was deliberately selected to focus on a very topical global and national issue which could bring succour on what bedevilled Nigeria for a long time.
He added that the energy crisis in the country requires every hand on deck to avert an imminent collapse of the profession.
"The Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers is a voluntary professional organisation founded in 1989 and incorporated in 1990 to among others, bringing together all mining Engineers."
