Strandged Disease Found In Bungudu LGA, ZMSG Responded, Sent Medical Teams

The Zamfara State government is addressing reports of potential heavy metal exposure in the Bungudu Local Government Area by deploying medical teams and launching a comprehensive investigation.

Prioritizing the health and well-being of citizens, especially children, the state Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has directed the activation of rapid response teams following initial reports of potential heavy metal exposure.

Medical teams have been sent to the Bungudu Local Government Area to assess and treat affected individuals, working alongside local healthcare facilities and multidisciplinary teams.

A team of experts, including environmental health specialists and medical professionals, is investigating the source and scope of the exposure.

The government is engaging with community leaders and residents to provide information and support, prioritizing transparency and open communication, according to the statement.

Additionally, the state is deploying resources and collaborating with the WHO, NCDC, and other national and international partners.

Public health education efforts are being intensified, focusing on hygiene, clean water, and safe environmental practices.

The state Governor has ordered a review of potential sources of heavy metal contamination to develop long-term prevention strategies.

Individuals experiencing symptoms of heavy metal exposure, such as abdominal pain, headaches, or developmental delays, are urged to seek immediate medical attention.
