The Federal Medical Centre Gusau recently hosted a presentation on meningitis and its preventive measures at the newly named Dr. Anka Mohammed Kabir Auditorium at the Centre. Dr. Kabiru Mohammed Mande, a consultant on infectious diseases and Head of Internal Medicine, delivered the presentation, emphasising on prevalence, symptoms, management, complications, infection prevention and control of the disease.

The Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Bello A. Mohammed (FWACS) encouraged staff to treat patients like VIPs, engaging with them and listening to their concerns as they would with their own relatives. He stressed the significance of taking good care of the centre, likening it to cherished personal belongings.

Dr. Mohammed also highlighted the potential consequences of patient care, stating, "If you helped patients and they blessed you, you may remain blessed for the rest of your life. And if they curse you, who knows what will befall you?"

Similarly Dr. Mohammed briefed the gathering on the progress towards FMC Gusau becoming a teaching hospital, seeking prayers, goodwill and political support from all stakeholders.

Dr. Umar Abdullahi (FMCP), Head of Clinical Service and Training, expressed gratitude to the management for naming the new auditorium after Dr. Anka Mohammed Kabir, the immediate past Medical Director. He commended the organizers and presenter for choosing a timely and relevant topic.

Notable attendees included Dr. Anka Mohammed Kabir, a former Medical Director of the Centre; Dr. Sunday Onazi, a former Head of Clinical Service and Training of the Centre; Alh Muhammad Idris Kaura, a former Head of Administration of the Centre and heads of departments and units of the Centre.
