We Have Only One State House Of Assembly :- Zamfara Speaker

The Speaker of Zamfara State House Of Assembly,  honourable Bilyaminu Isma'il Moriki  has said that as far as he knows, Zamfara State has only one House Of Assembly and he is the speaker of that assembly.

Honourable Bilyaminu made this known to journalists today in Gusau, while reacting to a speculation that some suspended members of the state House Of Assembly have sat at an undisclosed place, where they issued one month ultimatum to governor Dauda Lawal to address the lingering insecurity in the state, and other issues.

"Yesterday, there was a report circulating on social media that a parallel sitting has took place in Zamfara State. Let me make it clear Zamfara State has only one legitimate House of Assembly,” he stated.

According to him, the  actions of the ten suspended members of the Assembly who reportedly formed a parallel legislative body after being suspended is not acceptable, emphasized that any legislative sitting must take place within the official premises of the Assembly in Gusau.

The Speaker described the actions of the suspended members as null and void, stressing that their gathering has no legal standing.

“That sitting is not valid. There is a pending case before a court of law on this matter, and as such, I will not comment further until the court delivers its judgment,”

Moriki further lamented that one of the individuals who participated in the purported sitting had already his seat declared vacant by the Assembly.

“He is not even a member of the State Assembly anymore. His case is also in court, and there is a court order instructing both him and the Assembly to maintain the status quo.

According to the speaker, it means he was not allowed to take any action or interfere with the affairs of the Assembly.

Speaker  Moriki assured that, the house would continue discharging it legitimate activities.He said, " I was so surprised when I saw a story about the parallel House Of Assembly in Zamfara, because all I know was those members were already suspended since last year.

" Please Journalists, I don't want to say much about the parallel House of Assembly matters because we have pending court case with those who disobey the court order.

Tsafe Development Forum Appeals For An Urgent Support To The Victims Of Bandits Attacks In Chediya Ward
