Zamfara Inaugurates Technical Committee For Neglected Tropical Diseases

The Zamfara state Ministry of Health on Tuesday inaugurated a Neglected Tropical Diseases Technical Advisory Committee.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, said in a statement read by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Bashir Surajo Gusau, that committee members were selected based on merit.
She urged the newly inaugurated members to deliver their best in their assignments.
The committee's responsibilities include providing a platform of experts to advocate for the needs of NTDs in the state, local government areas, and communities to government at all levels, philanthropists, and individuals, with the aim of NTD elimination and control in Zamfara state.
The committee will also provide technical expertise on NTD activities, MDA treatment, and prevention; identify gaps and challenges in NTD control and elimination efforts and recommend solutions; and support the alignment of the national NTD program with global targets and frameworks, such as the World Health Organization's NTD Roadmap.
In a goodwill message, a representative of the WHO assured the organization's continued commitment to supporting State in implementing 2021 -2030 NTD Roadmap implementation in an integrated cross cutting approach.
The statement was signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau by Suleiman Isah, ANIPR, Information Officer Ministry Of Health.
