Zamfara State Commissioner for Health Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun has commended Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal for his transformative healthcare initiatives, following the commissioning of the renovated and equipped Phase 1 of General Hospital Gusau.

Maradun stated that the commissioning marked a pivotal moment for accessible and quality healthcare in the state.

She lauded governor Dauda's declaration of a state of emergency in the health sector as a bold and necessary step, noting that the current progress demonstrated his dedication.

Highlighting the comprehensive nature of the governor’s initiatives, Dr. Maradun emphasized their far-reaching impact, including the systematic renovation of all general hospitals across Zamfara state, which she said would significantly enhance the capacity to provide essential medical services.

The upgrading of Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau will ensure citizens have access to advanced care within the state, reducing the need for out-of-state referrals, she added.

The Commissioner also noted the renovation of over 100 primary health care centers, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to strengthening the foundation of the healthcare system and ensuring basic services are readily available.

The provision of essential drugs to health facilities statewide will address critical shortages, and the provision of free antenatal, natal, and postnatal care services is a landmark achievement for maternal and child health outcomes, she said.

"Governor Lawal's vision of universal access to quality healthcare is not just a promise; it is a reality unfolding before our eyes," Dr. Maradun affirmed.

She added that the impact of these initiatives would lead to improved health outcomes, enhanced patient experiences, and a healthier Zamfara State.
