KDSG Holds Agricultural Stakeholders Meeting On Sectors Survey, Seeds Policy

The Kaduna state ministry for agriculture in collaboration with the state Bureau of Statistics (KDBS) have organized a one day agricultural stakeholders meeting on the review of Kaduna State Agricultural Sector Survey, Seeds Policy.

 The joint agriculture sectors meeting, was  recently held at Asaa Pyramid Hotels in Kaduna.

 In his address, the commissioner Ministry for Agriculture, Honourable Murtala Dabo, said "This years farming season woefy shows signs of improvement in the area of production during the harvesting period.

Honourable Murtala Dabo, however explained that, "with effort's of governor Uba Sani on security policies derived the returning of peace in areas that are not be able to cultivate their farmlands for many years.

   The Commissioner however noted that, alots of farmlands cultivated for production  as a results of normal security situation in curridors of Giwa, Igabi and Birnin Gwari local government areas.

He also noted that "even Chikun,Kajuru and Kachia local government areas curridors, hoping to enjoy the same  peace enjoying in Birnin Gwari, due to the wider cultivations of farmlands from the communities.

 Murtala Dabo further, commended the governor for the distribution of Five Hundred Trucks of fertilizer to Twelve Thousand small scale farmers last year.

The Kaduna state government also working on bringing in the value addition by bringing alots manufacturing companies, example are the recently commissioned Kaduna Agricultural processing industrial zone.

  Speaking, the National Publicity secretary National Ginger Association of Nigeria, Meshach K. Baba, commended the conveyner, the Kaduna state government  for organizing the summit, described it as timely and a welcome development for conveying with parastatals and stakeholders in discussion on issues concerning the agricultural sector.

He however explained that, everyone is aware that, in 2022 and 2023  the Ginger product affected by plytes over the years, it's in recovery stages now, and alots of losses either from small scale and medium  nor large scale stakeholders.

 He called on the intervention from relavants agencies and stakeholders, to the hutch losses in previous  years for the rapids response of Ginger recovery in Nigeria.

He also said that,"those that represent the value change in term Ginger production in Kaduna state and Nigeria at large, would reveal that, Ginger is the major internal revenue generated.

 "Ginger recovery stages is low, urging all parties involve to come with initiatives; the national acts development finds, research institute Zaria Shippers council of Nigeria, export promotion council, and the federal government.

He also hailed the efforts of Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Mr Katung for his presentation on Ginger issues at the national assembly.

Also speaking at the meeting,the sarkin Kidandan, Alhaji Lawali Umar also the state Chairman Commercial Agricultural Association, said "its only Seeds Fertilizer and insecticides needful assistance to Nigerians farmers.

 He also added that, at last year Governor Uba Sani distributed Five Hundreds Trucks of fertilizer free to farmers in Kaduna state,which is a welcomed development, from the Eight years of the previous government farmers don't benefited any support from the state government.

The Chairman calls on the governments to subsidies the price of fertilizer to became affordable for the farmers to patronages in order to improve food production in the country.
