The Director General of Argungu International Fishing Festival and immediate past Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, has empowered youths engaged in mobilising electorates to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in three wards of Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
A total of ₦1.7 million was released on Saturday to support 85 volunteers from Bena, Ayu, and Dan Umaru wards. Each volunteer received ₦2,500 daily for data and allowances over a period of eight days.
Speaking during the distribution, Engr. Tukur Hamidu Bena, who represented Safiyanu Bena, commended his generosity and commitment to grassroots development. He explained that the gesture aligns with the ideals of Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), which encourage political office holders and well-to-do individuals in the society to support community initiatives, empower youths, and promote civic responsibility.
“This effort is aimed at ensuring that nobody is disenfranchised in the forthcoming 2027 elections. I am here to flag off the distribution of this support to volunteers so that we can have a smooth mobilisation exercise in our communities, particularly encouraging new registrants to collect their PVCs,” he said.
The event was well attended by party stalwarts, including Alhaji Dauda Maisamari, representing the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, as well as representatives of APC local government chairmen from the three wards and other party executives.
