KDHA PASSES BILLS TO ESTABLISH KADA-FUND, RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS COMMISSION

The Kaduna State House of Assembly passed a bills to establish the Kaduna State Commission for Religious Affairs Law 2025 aimed at promoting peace in the state, and the state Agricultural Development Found (KADA- FUND).
The bills were passed after scaling third reading following a report presented by the Chairmen, House Committee on Inter-faith, and the house committee Chairman on Agriculture.
Speaking after the adoption of report by the house, the chairman house committee on interfaith, Honourable Nazeer Abubakar, congratulated the state governor for having been the executive bill proposal which is now reviewed and passed into law.
Malam Nazeer however explained that, the commission would serve as platform that bring all religious groups under one umbrella, aimed at fostering dialogue, understanding, and harmony among different faith communities.
Also the Chairman House committee on agriculture, Honourable Abdullahi Mohammad Bello, member representing Maigana, expressed that the creation of KADA-FUND would woefully enhanced the agricultural sector with Mich more stakeholders and intervention.
"The sector also need to transformed with new innovation especially the technological agricultural mechanism with both internal and external stakeholders in order to improve productivity for food security."
The State House of Assembly has also passed a motion to regulate the operations of metal waste vendors and promotion of environmental sustainability, safeguard public health, and ensure compliance with waste management standards in the state.
Highlighting the newsmen's in his office, the committee’s report, the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Environment and Judiciary, Barrister Mahmud Lawal Sama’ila, "an in-depth review revealed that although there is an existing law guiding waste management.
He also explained that the Assembly intends to amend the Kaduna State Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA) Law, which currently focuses mainly on sanitation and hygiene, to include provisions that empower and regulate the operations of metal waste dealers.
The member representing Zaria constituency, also noted that, unregulated scrap metal activities have had adverse socioeconomic impacts on communities, stressing that many vendors operate outside the law.
He added that the new regulation will introduce a licensing framework to sanitize the sector and eliminate criminal elements exploiting the trade for illicit activities.
According to him, the operations of some scrap metal vendors have contributed to the vandalization of both public and private infrastructure, a situation that often leads to delinquency.
