Kebbi Constructs Largest Veterinary Animals Clinic In Nigeria

The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has vowed to put the welfare of Vetinenary Doctors as top of his administration priorities as well as livestock sector to improve the livelihood of the common citizens in the state.


  Idris,who stated this while addressing Vetinenary Doctors at the 2025 World Rabies Day organized by the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NWMA) Kebbi State, noted that his administration is determined to reform the Livestock and animal breeders to the international standard.

 The Governor, represented by the Commissioner of Livestocks Development and Fisheries, Alhaji Kabir Usman Alarama, disclosed that the largest Veterinary Animal Clinic in Nigeria is almost completed in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, "  We consider the welfare of our Veterinary Doctors a matter of great interest. And we will ensure that they succeed in delivery their mandate. It is on this regard that government empowered small and large scale Livestocks farmers and supported demarcation of game reserves to curtail the farmers/herders crisis.
  "Changing of the name of the Ministry from Ministry of Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries to the Ministry of Livestocks Development and Fisheries are all targeted to boost the economy of common man in the state. 

  "As you all aware that the Contractor has resumed at the site for the construction of the veterinary hospital which is one of it kind in Africa would be soon be commission by the government".

 Alarama also explained that the state government had signed MoU with the Governments of Brazil and Indonesian on the Livestocks to boost the animals production and productivity,stressed that the current administration are fully ready to change the narrative in the sector.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Comrade Bala Fingila commended the state government for providing support to celebrate the Rabies day, stressed that the Veterinary Doctors should continued to support the government by delivery their services as expected.

In his remark,the State Chairman of the Association in the state, Umar Abubakar explained that the essence of the event was to brainstorm on how to control the Rabies disease which are preventable,yet ,killing and claiming lives of the people.

 The Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestocks, Alhaji Muhammad Kiruwa urged the organisers of the programme to always consider the Livestocks breeders at the grassroots who are not educated when holding the program by adopting their local languages as well taking the programme to their domain especially at the local government areas.

The programme was attended by traditional rulers, Livestocks farmers, Veterinary Doctors as well students of veterinary medicine from various institutions.
